Power was cut to approximately 13,000 customers in north-east Christchurch at 4.25pm today, after a bird flew into the high voltage power lines which supply power to Orion's major substation in Rawhiti Domain. Affected areas included New Brighton, Queenspark and Bexley.
All power was restored to north-east Christchurch by 5.20pm.
