Two blustery days at Te Rapa Racecourse set the stage for the Breeze Ups of a well prepared group of juveniles entered in New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale on 20 & 21 November at Karaka.

Of the 404 lots entered in the Sale, 354 horses breezed over the final 200 metres of Waikato Racing Club's Te Rapa track. Rated dead on both days, the penetrometer read 2.7 on day one and 2.6 on day two.

The fastest time over the two-days was recorded late on day two by Lot 245, a chestnut colt on account of Te Runga Stud. He is by the Stud's resident sire, and son of Danehill, Chianti and recorded the speedy time of 10.01 seconds. In his heat he was partnered by Lot 368, a bay colt by Stravinsky out of Velinda (Veloso) who crossed the line in 10.09 seconds. On account of Ainsley Downs Stud, he is a half-brother to the outstanding Hong Kong galloper Russian Pearl and stakes-winner Promise Me.

Chequers Stud entrants provided the next two fastest times with Lot 28, a chestnut colt who ran down in 10.05 seconds and Lot 291, a chestnut gelding who recorded 10.08 seconds. Lot 28 is the first foal from the Kaapstad mare Capebay who won on twice over 1200m while Lot 291 is by the in-form sire-son of Storm Cat, Van Nistelrooy, and out of the Deputy Governor mare Royal Show.

Also on day two, and stretching out nicely to comfortably to record 10.12, was Lot 334, a bay colt by Sandtrap from the three-time winning Straight Strike mare Strike a Star. From the 17 strong Halo Farm draft, he along with 19 other entrants in the Sale, is eligible for the inaugural running of the Karaka Million on 27 January at Ellerslie.

Lot 360, a bay colt on account of M J O'Toole, ran on for 10.12 as well. The son of Rich Hill Stud's Pentire (Be My Guest) is a half-brother to multiple stakes-winner Analyst (Deputy Governor) and is from the family of Group 1 winners Alynda and Penny Gem.

The fastest times on day one were both recorded by entrants under Janine Dunlop's Phoenix Park banner. Lot 395, a bay colt by Tale of the Cat from the Palace Music mare Angel on Links, ran out the 200 metres in 10.17 seconds while recording the second top time, in 10.20 seconds, was Lot 287. He is by the Group 1 Breeders' Cup Mile winner Val Royal (Royal Academy) and is from the three-time winning Danehill mare Rose or Gina.

The fastest filly was Lot 42, an eye-catching grey by Ekraar (Red Ransom) who recorded 10.15 for Belane Stables.
