Nominations open for Waiheke Local Board by-election

Nominations are sought for the position of a local board member for the Waiheke Local Board following the resignation of Denise Roche last week.

A by-election will take place on Friday 4 May 2012.

Nominations for the position open this Thursday (16 February 2012) and close at noon, Thursday 15 March 2012.

To be eligible to stand for the position, a candidate must be a New Zealand citizen who is enrolled as a Parliamentary elector anywhere in New Zealand.

Candidates must be nominated on a nomination paper obtainable during normal business hours from one of the following places:

electoral office, Independent Election Services Ltd, ground floor, Bledisloe House, 24 Wellesley Street West, Auckland
Waiheke customer service centre, 10 Belgium Street, Ostend, Waiheke
Auckland Council website, www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

A postal ballot of approximately 6,500 Waiheke electors will commence on Thursday 12 April 2012 when voting packs are delivered. All votes must be returned by noon, Friday 4 May 2012.
