Council is pleased to announce that Megan Peacock-Coyle will begin the position of Oamaru Opera House Director from 14 May 2012.

Mrs Peacock-Coyle has been working at the Hawke’s Bay Opera House for five years as Arts Programming Manager.

Council’s Community Services Group Manager, Thunes Cloete, said they are greatly looking forward to welcoming Mrs Peacock-Coyle, her husband Dominic and 2-year-old son Barnaby to Oamaru.

“In her role at the Hawke’s Bay Opera House, Megan was the driver of business and audience development and gained valuable experience in managing within a council environment. She has also worked as Technical & Operations Coordinator and Theatre Events Manager.”

Mr Cloete said current Oamaru Opera House Director, Richard McWha, will be finishing on 4 May after four busy and highly successful years.

“Richard started with Council in February 2008. Since then he has been instrumental in setting up the Opera House as we know it today.  He has had a part in everything from décor, colour schemes, to appointing staff and developing the business plans.  Richard managed the Opera so efficiently that the three year targets set for the Opera House were achieved by the end of the first year.”

He said the appointment of Mrs Peacock-Coyle would ensure the Opera House continued to be a valuable community asset.

“We are delighted to have been able to attract another director of such a high calibre and I see a very exciting future for the Opera House.”
