LOWER HUTT

Hutt Valley Police are investigating the death of a 64 year old Epuni man at the Waterloo interchange bus depot on Friday night.

Hutt Valley Police Response Manager, Inspector Shane Cotter says just after 10pm last night, Police were called to the bus depot yard when a bus driver was found unconscious on the ground suffering from head injuries.  Attempts by ambulance staff to revive him proved unsuccessful.

"It appears this may have been a robbery gone wrong as the bus driver's cash tin is missing.  We are very keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Waterloo Interchange last night between 9pm and 10.30pm.  They may have witnessed the incident or seen someone acting suspiciously in the area."

Inspector Shane Cotter says anyone who can assist Police with their enquiries should phone Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2600 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
