Female shot with Paint Ball Gun

At about 12.55pm on Saturday 29 April 17 year old female was walking by herself down Cranford Street toward Innes Road. She crossed over Cranford Street at the lights at Innes and started walking across at the intersection. As she crossed she noticed a Blue or Green people mover style vehicle stopped at the red light about to turn left into Innes Road. Inside the vehicle were two male maori or polynesian males about 16 to 18 years old. There car was over the line at the lights causing the female to walk around the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were laughing at the female as she walked past.

The female continued to walk east on Innes Road. As the vehicle turned left at the lights it slowed down to pass the female. The passeger of the vehicle pulled out a paint ball gun and fired about 8 paint balls at the female. Several shots hit the female on the back at close range and one shot hit her in the face as she turned to see what was happening. The female recieved a badly swollen lip by the incident and soreness to the back. She is now afraid of walking around by herself and was very emotional when spoken to by police.

The driver of the vehicle was Maori or Polynesian 16 to 18 years old and wearing a dark coloured "snap back" hat.

The passeger was also Maori or Polynesian 16 to 18 years old.

The paintball gun was described as having a canister to hold the paint balls.

The vehicle was either green or blue in colour with a raised plastic strip all the way around maybe 20cm in thickness.
