“We are shocked and saddened by the tragic death of a Valley Flyer bus driver after he was attacked while he was working last night.  Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones and everyone at the Valley Flyer bus company,” says Peter Glensor, Chair of Greater Wellington’s Economic Wellbeing Committee  which oversees public transport.

“Understandably this tragedy has devastated everyone at Valley Flyer and they’ll need time to deal with this extremely sad and distressing situation.

“The Valley Flyer depot at Waterloo has been cordoned off so police can investigate the crime scene and staff will need time and support to help them deal with the violent death of their colleague.

“So there are likely to be some disruptions to Valley Flyer bus services over the next few days. We’ll do our best to keep people fully informed of any changes to services and I’m sure customers will be understanding.”

Valley Flyer customers should check Metlink for service updates over the next few days.
