WELLINGTON CITY

A Life Flight Trust team has this afternoon (May 2) airlifted an injured car driver from SH58, Haywards Hill, Wellington.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, was called just after 3pm this afternoon (May 2).

The helicopter was able to land close to the accident scene, which was approximately 60 metres down a bank. The vehicle, with just the driver on board, had left the road and rolled a number of times before coming to rest upright in a small creek.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle by Fire Service personnel and treated by Wellington free Ambulance Paramedics before being flown to Wellington Hospital. The driver, a 36 year old Wellington woman, is currently in Wellington Hospital Emergency Department, where she is being assessed for what are believed to be moderate injuries.
