Due to the water levels of the Mangapapa Stream dropping - a total hosing ban has been put in place as of: Monday 7 May 2012
Our Resource Consent water take is approaching the low flow cut off levels. Therefore, with the lack of rain - accompanied by problems with the quality of water from the intake - Council has found it necessary to put water restrictions in place until some rainfall is received.
The long-range weather forecast is for some possible rain later next week. Residents will continue to have access to the water tanker outside the Fire Station, which will be kept available for drinking water until further notice.
The new treatment plant is taking shape and hopefully will be in full operation by the end of May.
