NORTH SHORE CITY

The Police seek public assistance in locating a utility vehicle involved in a high speed pursuit just after 7-30am this morning (Sat 5th May).

Two North Shore officers went to investigate a report of a theft of in progress at a Glenfield address.

At that point a pursuit was initiated with the suspect vehicle during which a police car was rammed three times.  The pursuit continued from North Shore to Lincoln Road Henderson where attempts were made to spike the fleeing utility vehicle but the driver swerved into oncoming traffic and hit another motorist.  Fortunately no-one was injured but Police abandoned the pursuit at that point.

Police appeal for help to locate this very distinctive vehicle, it is a 4 door double cab ute coloured white, similar to a Toyota Hi Lux or Mitsubishi L200/Triton.  It has a white fibreglass canopy on the back and large black-rimmed wheels, possibly mags.  The vehicle has signwriting on the doors and an orange flashing light on the roof.  It would appear to be a contractor's vehicle and may have been either stolen or on loan to a staff member for the weekend.  It had a false number plate taken from another vehicle.  The driver was Caucasian, possibly in his 30's or early 40's.
