Auckland Council’s planting season kicks off this weekend at Long Bay Regional Park.

Come down to the park on Sunday 13 May between 10am and 1pm and help get around 5,000 trees in the ground.

Tree planting helps provide suitable habitats and food sources for native species, encourages habitat diversity and enhances vistas and panoramic views in our parks. It also helps us protect cultural heritage features and archaeological sites.

Bring sturdy enclosed shoes or boots, gloves and a spade (if you have them), a cold drink, family and friends – and plenty of energy.

We’ll provide the plants – and spades, gloves and fertiliser. We’ll show you how to give the plants the best chance of survival. And we’ll offer cold and hot drinks and a sausage sizzle.

Planting days will go ahead regardless of the weather.
