New Zealand’s most popular visitor destination was today announced by the Tourism Industry Association (TIA) as the home for TRENZ in 2013.

Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) General Manager Destination Rachael Dacy is delighted with the announcement.

“It will be a great honour to welcome TRENZ back to the region and we are rapt to be partnering with the Tourism Industry Association and New Zealand tourism suppliers to host this important event on Auckland’s waterfront,” says Ms Dacy.

TRENZ will attract about 1000 delegates including 300 international travel and tourism buyers and media from New Zealand’s major tourism markets. The event is expected to pump more than $1.5 million into Auckland’s local econonmy.

“Hosting TRENZ will help to position Auckland as a premier visitor destination. In recent years our premium product offering has grown considerably and we look forward to showcasing both our products and our diverse region to the influential line-up of international buyers and media,” says Ms Dacy.

The event will also help to realise the goals in Auckland’s ambitious 10 year Visitor Plan, which aims to double the region’s tourism receipts by 2020.

Held annually, TRENZ is vital in ensuring Destination New Zealand remains competitive and grows its share of the international tourism business.

Tourism is big business in Auckland generating in excess of $3 billion of GDP per annum and supporting more than 50,000 full time jobs.
