Council seeks public feedback from residents

As part of its on going commitment to continuous improvement and customer service Whangarei District Council is to conduct its annual survey of residents.

“We really want to understand what the public think of what Council are doing, we often hear from the vocal minority, this survey lets us hear from a much wider group of people.” says Group Manager Support Services Alan Adcock

“We carry out this survey each year and have found it’s the best way to get a representative cross-section of residents by an impartial independent group. I encourage anyone who is contacted to please take the time to participate” Mr Adcock said. “While we only contact a sample of people, this gives us a statistically accurate view of overall perspectives.”

National Research Bureau (NRB), an independent research company offering specialised services to Local Authorities throughout New Zealand, has been commissioned to undertake the survey and report back to Council.

Using a random selection method, residents from throughout the District will be telephoned and asked their opinions on services Council delivers. The survey is totally confidential.

“The results of the survey form part of Council’s formal reporting but they are also a very important planning tool for further improvements to our services, which we always try to improve.” Mr Adcock said.

Interviewing for the survey commences on Friday 18 May and is expected to be completed on Sunday 27 May.
