Suspicious death in Whanganui

Police are investigating a suspicious death in Whanganui.

The body of an elderly man was found at a property in Campbell Street at around 8.30am this morning.

The street has been cordoned off while a scene examination takes place.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Kirby of Whanganui CIB says Police have begun a homicide investigation.

"We are in the very early stages of our inquiry and are gathering information at the moment, including formally identifying the victim.

"I would like to hear from anyone with information about suspicious behaviour or movements around Campbell Street over the last 24 hours." said Mr Kirby
