Hutt Valley Police have arrested two people in relation to an alleged burglary ring, after some good old fashioned team work.

Tactical Coordinator Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood says Hutt Valley Police have been concerned at the number of burglaries that have occurred recently throughout the Valley.

"A great scene examination by one of our Scene of Crime Officers was able to gather significant DNA evidence at a scene and then forward the matter to our Intel section."

He says they were able to prioritise this activity as a high risk to us and we were then able to task out some action on it.

"We executed a search warrant at a residential address in Upper Hutt earlier today. An initial estimate at this stage is indicating that we have recovered about $20,000 of property including jewellery, computers, and phones."

Police believe the two people arrested are responsible for a number of unsolved burglaries that have occurred in the Wellington and Hutt Valley area.

"We have a large amount of work to do in terms of returning the property to its rightful owners. It will be a matter of priority for us."

A 43 year old male and a 38 year old female have been arrested and will be held to appear in the Lower Hutt District Court tomorrow.
