Police have arrested a further six people today in relation to an ongoing investigation targeting an alleged methamphetamine supply and manufacturing syndicate.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Hampton of the Wellington Drug Squad says in early April Police arrested 16 people in relation to the operation dubbed 'Marian' and today a further six were arrested, following a series of search warrants executed in the Wellington and Kapiti Mana Areas.

"Those arrested today included two women and four men, ranging in age from 34 years to 52 years. This has been an ongoing investigation and takes the total number of arrests to date to 24."

The majority of those arrested today have appeared in the Wellington District Court, facing charges including conspiring to manufacture and supply methamphetamine and supplying methamphetamine.

"This drug dealing operation was supplying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of methamphetamine across the district and we believe we have impacted the supply chain to our drug community immensely."

Paul Hampton says the destruction methamphetamine causes to families as well as communities is devastating and robbing our children's futures.

"We remain committed to the war on methamphetamine and reducing the harm it causes, through our organised crime and methamphetamine control strategies. It is part of our commitment to the Police Prevention First strategy and we will continue to be proactive and effective in our response to those responsible."
