Feedback sought from Taupō Connector bus passengers

Feedback from Taupō Connector bus passengers will be taken on board in considering service improvements for later this year, says Waikato Regional Council.

A survey will be carried out over three weeks from next Monday (9 July) and can be completed online (www.busit.co.nz) and on the buses. Survey forms will also be available from Taupō District Council offices, libraries and the i-site. Closing date for feedback is Friday 27 July.

The Taupō Connector currently operates four times a day, seven days a week between Wharewaka and the town centre, with two additional journeys to Acacia Bay and Waitahanui from Monday to Friday.

Responses to the survey will help determine what changes can be made so the buses better serve the community, said regional council public transport operations manager, Edwin Swaris.

“We’re keen to hear from people who are regular bus users, those people who may have only used it once or twice, or have never used it at all,” he said.

“It is anticipated any improvements to the bus service to address passenger needs will help to grow the numbers of people using the network.”

Currently, the Taupō Connector carries just over 2000 passengers a month.

“Our aim is to increase bus patronage, but to do this it is important for the councils to know what the community enjoy from the current service and what they would like to see improved,” said Taupō District Council’s team leader transportation strategy, Claire Sharland.

The survey results will be considered by the regional council, which is working with Taupō District Council and the bus operator, Waipawa Buses Ltd.

Any improvements to things such as bus routes, timings and days of operation will be advertised ahead of being introduced. New timetables will also be produced.
