At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday the 6th of July 2012, a female walking home in Great South Road Greenlane was approached by a male offender who started walking with her along Great South Road, into Rockfield Road then Oranga Avenue and finally into the Oranga School.  As the female entered the school grounds the male grabbed the female and indecently assaulted her.

The female managed to stop the assault which was witnessed by a member of the public who intervened and called the police at which point the offender ran away. Police believe that the victim's quick thinking and the intervention of the member of the public prevented a more serious offence from occurring.

The offender is described as a male Polynesian aged in his early 20s.  His face is marked with acne and he has the word "TOA" tattooed on one of his hands.
He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a logo on the front, dark jeans and white shoes. Police believe he may live in the Oranga area.

Police are asking anyone who may know the identity of the offender or has any information which may assist the investigation to urgently contact the Police.
