A Whanganui man reported missing by his partner to Police yesterday has been found safe and well.

Inspector Steve Mastrovich of the Whanganui Police says 33 year old Tamehana Paul Campbell was believed to have gone off on a one day hunting trip on Saturday 14 July and failed to return.

"Enquiries were made in the National Park area, based on information given by members of Mr Tamehana’s family and several police officers spent many hours checking possible locations and speaking to contacts."

Inspector Mastrovich says at around 11am today, Police were able to confirm that Mr Campbell was not missing at all and that he had been spending time with friends in Pipiriki without informing his partner or family.

"Police always take missing persons reports very seriously and commit a lot of resources to resolve them as soon as possible, however in this instance, Mr Campbell failed to inform his partner or wider family of his intentions or his whereabouts, meaning a large amount of time and resources was spent trying to locate him."
