Youths charged over damage at Masterton netball courts

Two young people have been charged and another referred to Youth Aid, in relation to extensive damage at the Masterton netball courts yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Tracey Calder of the Wairarapa Crime Control Unit says Police were called to the netballs courts in Colombo Road yesterday afternoon in relation to reports of youths tagging.

"As a result, a 16 year old female and two males, aged 13 and 15, were spoken to by Police. Staff have also recovered an amount of stolen property in relation to an alleged burglary in Jeans Street on Monday."

The 16 year old female and the 15 year old male have appeared in the Masterton Youth Court today charged with intentional damage and the 13 year old male has been referred to Youth Aid.

Further charges in relation to the alleged burglary are pending.
