Taupō District Council is seeking to appoint three trustees to the Destination Great Lake Taupō (DGLT) board with the retirement of Michelle Caldwell, Paul Fallon and Paul Winter.

Council is inviting applicants with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of the visitor industry to put their names forward to continue to raise the visibility of the Taupō District as a significant destination draw card.

Council CEO, Rob Williams, says that huge thanks must go to the members who have served the board during the past two years. “They have taken DGLT from a fledgling Council Controlled Organisation (CCO) and we are now well positioned to move forward and deliver some tangible results for our local industry and our community.”

Council is responsible for the appointment of the DGLT Board Trustees. Mr Winter, Mr Fallon and Ms Caldwell’s retirements leaves the Trust Board with only three members of the required six. The new appointments will be made prior to the DGLT Annual General Meeting at the end of August.

DGLT is the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) for the Taupō District. DGLT is responsible for marketing the Taupō District to domestic and international markets with the aim of increasing visitor numbers, lengths of stay, activity involvement and ensuring positive experiences to those visitors so that they share these with their families and friends. The DGLT board provides governance and support to management. As a stand alone legal entity, the board has significant autonomy and responsibility to make decisions that deliver better outcomes for the District’s visitor industry and community.

An appointment panel will short list applicants and conduct interviews. For more information about the positions, contact Taupō District Council, or look here. Applications close 14 August at 4.00pm.
