Visa Congratulates Valerie Adams on Silver Medal Performance at London 2012 Olympic Games

Congratulations to Team Visa athlete, Valerie Adams, on her exceptional performance in the shot put finals. Valerie’s achievement is a result of her dedication, determination and talent, and the entire Visa team is extremely proud of her. 

Sean Preston, Country Manager for Visa in New Zealand, says the team was on the edge of their seats watching the finals at a supporter’s breakfast this morning.

“Valerie is in the best shape of her life and her success in London is testament to that. We know how hard she has worked and the dedication she puts into training. Her achievements are an inspiration to all of us and we at Visa are proud to be a part of her journey”.

At 27 Valerie is the current World Champion, World Indoor Champion, 2012 Halberg Sportswomen of the Year, International Association of Athletics Federation World Athlete nominee and has topped off the year with a 20.70m throw to take out the silver medal in London.

Visa has sponsored the Olympic Games for 26 years and this year alone supported 69 individual athletes and national teams from more than 20 countries including the United States, Canada, Brazil, United Kingdom, China, South Africa and Russia. Visa provides valuable marketing exposure and financial support to Olympic and Paralympic athletes as they pursue their dreams of competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Other Team Visa athletes include Michael Phelps, USA (swimming), Allyson Felix, USA (athletics), Yelena Isinbaeva, Russia (athletics/pole vault), and Lauren Mitchell, Australia (gymnastics).
