Trees are being removed from Te Henui Cemetery before they do more damage to nearby graves.

District Arborist Conrad Pattison says the removal of the 10 trees began on Friday (10 August) and will finish later this week.

“These trees have been causing problems with lifting and cracking the graves, so we’re taking them down before more damage is caused,” he says.

The Council will plant replacement trees further away from the graves.
