New Zealand Fashion Week’s official vehicle sponsor BMW teamed up with the country’s most upcoming young fashion talent, to create the ‘Ultimate Style Icons’ on four BMW X1 international models.

New Generation designers DMONIC INTENT, Silence Was..., Daniel K and Arielle Mermin took inspiration from their upcoming fashion collections and translated these onto the vehicles. Working closely with BMW, Omnigraphics and Redline the NZFW New Gen BMWs were revealed to the media yesterday.

With less than three weeks to go until NZFW, the four BMW X1 vehicles offer a sneak preview of the New Gen collections, which will be shown at NZFW on Wednesday 5 September.

Ed Finn, NZ BMW Communications Manager says, “BMW and the fashion industry share a passion for innovation and cutting edge design, creating the perfect fit for a partnership between BMW and NZFW. BMW is proud to be the global brand behind our next generation of up and coming fashion designers.”

The NZFW BMW vehicle designs are being judged by a panel of industry influencers including: Clair Sullivan from The Denizen, Tina Moore from Remix magazine and Dan Gosling from Stolen Girlfriends Club. The winning New Generation designer will receive their unique BMW X1 to drive for a month.

“BMW is a leader in design, innovation, aesthetics and setting new trends. There are many synergies that exist between leading vehicle design and NZFW New Generation designers. Each of the designers are aspirational, entrepreneurial and at the start of a journey,” says Ed Finn

Myken Stewart, NZFW Brand Manager said: “NZFW is very grateful for the association with such a premium brand as BMW.  The collaboration with the New Gen designers was a brilliant idea from BMW as working with young, fresh and energetic newbies ensures great fresh ideas and the vehicle wrap designs show that. Working with partners such as BMW that think outside the square and come up with leveraging ideas that enhance both brands plus the designers at the same time is genius. Gone are days of sticking logos everywhere.  This is where it’s at.”

The four NZFW BMWs will be showcased around Auckland in the weeks leading up to NZFW and will form part of the official vehicle fleet for the event.
