We are all acutely aware of the importance today of our young people being taught to swim and being capable of keeping themselves safe in the water. Far too many New Zealanders drown in our pools and off our beaches every year so the classes available at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health Swim School are essential to ensure the on-going education of our children when they are around water. Teach your kids how to stay safe in the water with Millennium’s fun swim school. The Millennium Institute is connected to Swimming New Zealand and New Zealand Swim Teachers and Coaches’ Association and their swim school offers a range of classes to suit every age and level.

The classes at Millennium Institute of Sport and Health are led by highly qualified, trained instructors who hold certificates in swim teaching and first aid, taking part in rigorous and compulsory training so that you will feel completely comfortable leaving your children with them and be assured that they are learning the most up to date techniques.

Millennium Institute’s swim school classes in the small pool are open to all ages, from babies/toddlers through to pre-schoolers (three to five years) and on to school age and upwards for swimming lessons Auckland. The school age classes include children who are unable to float, through to children learning to roll and breath, and all children are assessed and placed in classes with others of similar ability.
Similarly, in the main pool, classes cater for children with limited swimming ability through to children wanting to cross train for other water sports. It has also become enormously imperative for adults to undertake swimming lessons, the importance of which is borne out by the horrendous drowning statistics in New Zealand. Many adults also just love to swim to keep fit and can enrol at the Millennium Institute to improve their technique, fitness and stamina. Swimming is a very low-impact sport for older people wanting to keep themselves fit.

The goal at the Millennium Institute is to create a place where the local community can access world-class facilities to enable New Zealand’s next generation of elite athletes to achieve their goals. By enabling our young people to access swimming classes at very reasonable rates, the Millennium Institute is leading the way. By running their flexible school swim programmes the Millennium Institute has focused on improving children’s’ skills and confidence in the water. The Millennium Water Safety NZ Programme aims to raise awareness of staying safe in the water in public pools, beaches, lakes, rivers and out at sea.
