Long Bay Regional Park will be one of many worthy organisations given a helping hand on the 20th September 2012 when Lend Lease hosts its 17th annual Community Day.

Lend Lease Community Day encourages all employees around the world to give something back to local communities.

Community Day helps to develop strong community partnerships, giving employees a chance to apply skills where they are most needed.  Employees unanimously agree – this builds strong camaraderie and teamwork, and is an immensely rewarding experience.

Employees are invited to nominate a project and create small teams to work with the community group or cause.  Activities can include helping senior citizens, the homeless people, people with disabilities, the environment, working with children/youth and animals.

Community Day is about forging strong community partnerships, applying Lend Lease manpower and skills where they are most needed and supporting communities that support us.

Around fifty employees from Lend Lease will converge on Long Bay Regional Park on the 20th September 2012 to carry out track metalling and tree releasing.

Vicky Byles and Belinda Keith team leaders of the group said the Long Bay Park project was chosen because it is a recreational area used and enjoyed by residents and staff of the Lend Lease Retirement Villages and the employees of the Lend Lease Infrastructure Group and provides the residents of Auckland with a beautiful recreational area, nature reserve, beach and historic site second to none and it was an area everyone concerned would have an ongoing relationship with going forward.

“It is a family friendly environment that provides the greater Auckland area with a magnificent landscape offering many pursuits to all for 352 days a year.  The Rangers do a great job and it is a pleasure to be able to give something back in return,” said the Team Leaders.

This is Lend Lease’s 17th consecutive Community Day, and since the initiative began in 1996, employees have volunteered over 500,000 hours worldwide.
