Age Concern Marlborough is based at the Marlborough Community Centre at 25 Alfred Street. Staff are there from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm Monday to Thursday, and until 1.00 pm on Fridays, and can be reached by telephone (Ph: 03 579 3457) during those hours.

Age Concern can help older people, or their care-givers, with information and confidential advice.
It can provide an advocate who can help resolve issues that are concerning older people and liaise with others involved to help sort out problems.

It has volunteers who will visit older people who have become socially isolated, either at home or in care. From time to time the organisation arranges social events and seminars on issues relevant to older people, like elder abuse. It also runs ‘Senior Chef’ cooking classes. The next classes are planned for Havelock and Redwoodtown.

Older people who can no longer drive are entitled to Total Mobility taxi vouchers, offering a 50% discount on taxi rides. Age Concern assesses entitlement and allocates vouchers.

For those that would like a social opportunity there is an Oasis Friendship Group that meets the third Tuesday of every month to chat or to get out and about.

Age Concern would welcome calls from tradespeople who will do smaller household jobs or gardeners wishing to register on its list of recommended contractors. People must be willing to be vetted as Age Concern promotes this list as tradespeople who an older person can call in with confidence.
