Creek Creatures is a new temporary exhibition at the North Otago Museum that reveals some of the wildlife in Oamaru Creek and includes live displays and interactive games.

Museum Curator Chloe Searle said the exhibition explores some of the animals that make Oamaru Creek home.

“Lots of people are surprised when I tell them there are eels, trout, bullies and all sorts of other creatures in Oamaru Creek. It’s really interesting to find out more about what they are and how they live.”

Ms Searle said there are live fish and koura on display at the exhibition, and chances for visitors to learn more about freshwater life.

“Visitors can find out about the amazing journey eels make, or have a go making a face like a fish. This exhibition is great fun for children, families and anyone who wants to know more about the Creek.”

Creek Creatures is open every day from 14 September 2012 until 15 February 2013. Entry is free.
