CANTERBURY

The Warmup Pushbikes Cycling Team hopes to repeat last year’s winning performance in tomorrow’s Canterbury Team Time Trial Championships.

The team has entered two teams in the masters 25 kilometre category. The Warmup Pushbikes Black Team includes national and regional masters time trial champions and medallists and has high hopes of another team time trial title to go with the 40 kilometre open title it won last year.

Team spokesperson John McKenzie said they entered the 25 kilometre category because of race commitments the following day and due to several team members being unavailable.

“The bulk of our team are masters racers so it made sense to enter the masters category, although it means some of the younger guys don’t get to race which is a shame.”

Racing starts in Loburn tomorrow afternoon with events in open, masters, veteran, under 16 and under 19 categories in distances ranging from 15 kilometres to 40 kilometres.

The Warmup Pushbikes Black team is; John McKenzie, Lee Johnstone, David Roche and Stephen Mark. The Warmup Pushbikes Red team is Glen Quantock, Mark Forsey, Rob Woodgate and Gareth Davies.
