Children from Pomare Primary and Taita Central schools cheered for the Ricoh Wellington Lions as they triumphed over Waikato at Westpac Stadium recently.

The Ricoh Wellington Lions have introduced a new initiative to work with some decile 1 schools in the Wellington region. The Lions are giving these children the opportunity to experience live rugby action and meet their heroes.

In conjunction with Hutt City Council, students from Pomare Primary (pictured above) and Taita Central received free tickets to the Waikato match, and their parents a discounted ticket. Ricoh Wellington Lions supplier Tranzit also came on board and provided free buses to get them to the game and back.

Before they headed to the match, the families were treated to a free BBQ lunch at Pomare Primary from More FM. They also had a special visit from Leo the Lion and got to meet Ricoh Wellington Lions players Arden David Perrot and Serge Lilo.

Coca Cola provided free water and there were spot prizes through the Health Promotion Agency.
