Boundary Road Brewery has announced that from 1 October it will be importing and distributing Asahi Super Dry, the world’s biggest selling Japanese beer.

The Boundary Road Brewery, purchased by the Asahi Group in September 2011, is continuing to invest heavily in its beer portfolio, and challenge the New Zealand beer market.

Julian Davidson, CEO Boundary Road Brewery, says that the introduction of Asahi Super Dry to the Boundary Road Brewery portfolio is an extremely exciting move for the company.

“Asahi Super Dry is certainly one of the world’s truly special beers and further cements the Boundary Road Brewery as a key player in the industry.

“We’ve recently established a new and exclusive beer sales force, our keg roll out in to on premise outlets has been hugely successful, and the Boundary Road Brewery craft range is now the number two craft brand by value in grocery,” says Mr Davidson.

Asahi Super Dry was launched in 1987, and is the world’s first ‘Karakuchi’ or super dry and is a 5% ABV crisp lager with a restrained bitterness. The distinct dryness of Asahi Super Dry comes from a concise fermentation period that produces a complex aroma, and results in its sophisticated and clear taste.

Atsushi Katsuki, Asahi's Managing Director of Oceania, says his organisation is proud knowing that their top selling Asahi Super Dry will be distributed by the Boundary Road Brewery in New Zealand.

“The Boundary Road Brewery is fast becoming a key player in the New Zealand beer industry. The dedication of the Boundary Road team will see Asahi Super Dry gain momentum in this country, and more New Zealanders will have the chance to try our great tasting beer,” says Katsuki-san.

The Boundary Road Brewery is excited to announce that also from October, it will be further expanding its portfolio of beer brands to include international premium brand Budejovicky Budvar. Budejovicky Budvar from the Czech Republic is the original ‘Budwesier,’ and is widely regarded as one of the beers that set the benchmark in European brewing.

In November, Samuel Adams, the biggest selling craft beer range in the US, and Holsten Pilsener, a beer that dates back to Hamburg in 1879, will also join the Boundary Road Brewery stable.
