The New Zealand Army Band is set to entertain Taupō District as part of the annual Charter Parade next month. The army band will play outside the Great Lake Centre near the cenotaph following the parade on 6 October 2012.

The New Zealand Army Band has earned international recognition as one of the finest marching bands in the world with its entertaining and highly choreographed displays of music and movement.

The band was formed as a traditional brass band in 1964 to perform at state and ceremonial occasions. It has since incorporated a rhythm section and vocalists, broadening its repertoire to include swing, jazz, pop and rock.

The band is performing in Taupō as part of the annual Charter Parade. They will also march in the parade at 11.00am before performing the free concert.

The New Zealand Army Band will perform from 2.00pm to 3.00pm outside the Great Lake Centre near the cenotaph on 6 October 2012.
