KFC is opening the doors to a $2.2 million flagship store on Thursday (18th September) in the new Silverdale Centre and has created 38 new jobs for the area.

KFC General Manager Brent Kitto says the store will deliver an enhanced service for customers who have been calling for a KFC store on the Hibiscus coast on Facebook. The store will also trial partial table-service, which has been recently piloted in Lower Hutt.

“From the moment the customer steps in store they will notice changes. The interior has a fresh new urban feel, we’ve changed the queuing systems, installed in-store and drive-thru digital menu panels which are easy to read and the result is outstanding” he says.

“This store will employ 38 keen locals and will be an important part of the community. KFC Silverdale is really proud to be partnering with the Red Beach Surf Life Saving Club. The surf clubs are about to start patrolling for the season and many of our staff and customers enjoy the beaches in the area so it’s a great fit” he says.

KFC has recently announced a new partnership with Surf Life Saving New Zealand which will be launched Tuesday 16th October with two special Surf Safe Variety Bucket meals. With every bucket meal sold KFC will donate $2 to the national surf lifesaving organisation.

KFC Silverdale Store Manager Campbell Miller says the new staff are working hard to get ready for the opening day.  He’s inviting locals to come to the opening day celebrations on Saturday 20th October.

“Come down and help us celebrate our brand new store. There will be lots of action and opening specials all day, but the highlight is going to The Edge boy band, Titanium, who will be playing live at 12pm on Saturday,” says Miller.

The store will offer KFC’s famous Original Recipe chicken, and also feature KFC Krushers; the deliciously different frozen drink full of real bitz in six irresistible flavours, including Kookies‘n Kream and Strawberry Smoothie.

KFC Transformation Programme

Launched in 2004, KFC’s ambitious transformation programme is systematically refurbishing all KFC stores across New Zealand.

The New Zealand-developed design of the new-look stores has proven so popular that it has been picked up by KFC internationally.

KFC’s owner Restaurant Brands New Zealand attributes the continued top-line growth of the company to the transformation programme – and the sustained support of local communities.

Each individual store project takes into account the particular needs of the local community.

KFC in New Zealand

New Zealand’s first KFC restaurant opened in Auckland in 1971 serving the Colonel’s Original Recipe chicken. Today, KFC has 97 stores and more than 2,500 staff nationwide, offering great tasting, fresh chicken that keeps customers coming back.

KFC is part of the Restaurant Brands Group. Restaurant Brands is listed on the NZX stock exchange and also owns Pizza Hut, Carl’s Jr. and Starbucks.
