Police are urging Hawkes Bay motorists to drive with caution due to extremely high winds. Motorcyclists, campervans and high sided vehicles in particular should avoid travelling on the open road until conditions improve.

Police have received reports of severe wind on SH 2 near Takapau and on SH 5 near Tarawera on the Napier – Taupo highway.
