AUCKLAND

Waitakere CIB assisted by Auckland staff arrested two men in Sylvia Park, Auckland at 3.00pm, Thursday the 1 November 2012.

As the result of the arrest a large amount of precursor chemicals were located and they will both appear in the Waitakere District Court charged with possession for supply of a class B controlled drug.

At 4.15pm today the Armed Offenders Squad assisted Police to arrest a further 4 men aged between 20 -30yrs in Dominion Road, Auckland City. These men will appear in the Waitakere District tomorrow (Friday) charged with supplying a class B drug.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie says,' the arrests came as a result of an investigation being conducted by the Waitakere CIB. Search warrants were also executed at 11 addresses across greater Auckland.'

She says, 'the arrests were the culmination of a lengthy investigation which commenced in December 2011 when a Clandestine Methamphetamine laboratory exploded during the manufacturing process in Culperry Rd, Glendene.'

As a result of today's arrests and warrants executed, a significant amount of cash and property including motor vehicles has been seized.

The 4 men arrested at Dominion Road plus a further associate will appear in the Waitakere District Court on Friday the 2 November 2012 charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, arson and supplying a class B drug.

This investigation is ongoing and police cannot rule out the possibility of further arrests.

As the men are now before the court no further comment will be made at this time.
