Drivers are about to get a colour cue of the 30km/h speed limit in central New Plymouth.

Red surfacing with a white 30 painted on top will be laid at the 14 entry points to the CBD as a visual reminder that they are entering a low-speed area.

“The red material is made from recycled glass and every driver who enters the CBD will come across it,” says Manager Roading Assets Max Aves.

“We have recently installed more 30km/h repeater signs and painted 30 on the roads to emphasise the speed limit, and this latest treatment will further raise the awareness of motorists.”

The work is scheduled to be completed next week subject to suitable weather conditions.
