Seymour Square will be the backdrop for Stihl Shop Garden fete this Sunday and visitors will be encouraged to observe a moment’s silence at 11.00 am to mark Armistice Day.

This 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is the symbolic moment chosen to remember the cease to WW1 hostilities on the Western Front in 1918.

Each year, wreaths are laid at Blenheim’s War Memorial clock tower and a short service is held to mark the event.

Mayor Alistair Sowman welcomes returned services members and families to this commemoration and it’s hoped, this year, some of those attending the Stihl Shop Garden fete will also take a moment to pay their respects.

The roads around Seymour Square will be closed on Sunday.

The Alfred Street car parking building offers free parking on Sunday.

The barrier arms to the parking building will be raised from 5.00 pm Saturday until 9.00 pm on Sunday
so there will be no need to use the ticket mechanism during that period.

In the event of wet weather the service will be held at the Marlborough RSA in the Clubs of Marlborough.
