At 4.30pm on Saturday the 26th of April 2008, a privately owned single engine, two seated aeroplane crashed at the Whenuapai Air Force Base.
The aeroplane left the Whenuapai Aviation Sports Club and was seen doing a circuit of the air field before crashing.
The crash is being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The two male occupants died at the scene.
The deceased males have been named as:
Wayne MATTHEWS, aged 62 years of Greenhithe; and
Brent BALDWIN, aged 46 years of West Harbour.
