Auckland City Police had a steady but otherwise unremarkable New Years Evening.
Approximately 50 people were arrested for offences ranging from assault, fighting in public and breaching the city Liquor Ban.
Operations Commander Inspector Gavin Macdonald said even though there were a lot more people out and about compared to last year, there was very little trouble or problems for the Police.
Inspector Macdonald said that quite a few families with young children had come into the city to watch the fireworks before heading back home.
Most people were aware that there was a liquor ban in place and had behaved themselves.
