CHRISTCHURCH

At about 3.40pm on Wednesday 21 January 2009 the Division Street Dairy which is situated on the corner of Division and Elizabeth Street, Riccarton, Christchurch was robbed by a male who was carrying a knife.
The man demanded money from the female dairy owner and after she had handed him the contents from the cash register he left on foot in a westerly direction down Elizabeth Street towards Matipo Street.
The man is described as a male Caucasian possibly aged in his 20's with a New Zealand accent. He was of slim or skinny build and approximately 6' 1' tall with longish light brown hair which was partially disguised by a white T shirt or cloth that he had wrapped around his face and head to conceal his identity. He was wearing a long sleeved black sweatshirt with the shirt sleeves pulled up to his elbows showing tanned skin, and dark blue baggy jeans with black and white running shoes.
The knife he was carrying was a long bladed sharp edged steak knife.
Of note the man smelt strongly of alcohol and his coordination was not very good.
Anyone with information should call Detective Doreen Howe at Hornby Police Station on 344 0677.
