New Intelsat 5 Channels in NZ, BBC World + Australia Network

Two international free to air digital TV channels can now be viewed in New Zealand on Intelsat5, BBC World and Australia Network, allowing New Zealander’s even more access to foreign and international affairs.

BBC World News is a channel that many New Zealander’s will have viewed while overseas in airports, airlines and hotels. The channel offers international 24-hour news and information, broadcast in English in more than 200 countries and territories across the globe. Its estimated weekly audience reach of 76 million makes it the BBC's biggest television service. BBC World News broadcasts a diverse mix of authoritative international news, sport, weather, business, current affairs and documentary programming.

Australia's international television channel, Australia Network, offers a rich and diverse range of information and general programming. Australia Network is currently available in 20 million homes in more than 40 countries across Asia, the Pacific and the Indian subcontinent. The channel features world class international documentaries, lifestyle programs and top quality dramas. Extensive sports coverage and award winning children’s programs are also included in the programming mix.

The two channels can now be accessed in New Zealand from the newly located Intelsat 5 satellite on satellite dishes of size 1.2 meters and above with a C band LNB and a free to air satellite receiver available from freeviewshop. Viewers wishing to receive these channels as well as Freeview from the D1 satellite require either a separate dish set up for each or a combined set up available from Freeviewshop. It is also possible to combine the reception with Freeview HD.
