Male hit by train in Papatoetoe

MANUKAU CITY

At about 10:40am this morning a male was hit by a southbound commuter train between Middlemore and Papatoetoe stations. The location of the incident is not known for pedestrian movement and is some distance from both stations.
There were 6 passengers on the train which was delayed for some time while other transport arrangements were made. The train driver is currently undergoing trauma counselling.
Due to the position of the deceased male New Zealand Fire Service and OnTrack personnel attended to assist police in removing him from the scene. The scene was not cleared until 1:15pm.
The deceased is described as a Polynesian male in is 30's, with curly black receding hair, unshaven, and wearing a dark blue polo shirt, dark trousers and jandels.
No identification was found on the male and he was unknown to the neighbouring properties.
'Police hope that someone will recognise the description so his family can be advised.' says Constable Damon O'Shaughnessy, the officer in charge of the police investigation.
This incident is not considered suspicious. Police thank the local residents for their assistance and understanding during this incident.
