At about 1.15am Police were advised that a small boat had capsized and sank approximately 200 metres off Omana Beach.
Two males had been on board and both attempted to swim to shore.
One of the men made it to shore and raised the alarm.
He was later treated for hypothermia.
Police, Coast guard and the Westpac Helicopter conducted a search and at about 5.am the body of the second male was located about 50m's from where the submerged boat was found.
Life jackets were not worn by either fisherman
