At about 2.25 pm on Friday 24 July 2008 three disguised offenders have robbed the Kati Kati Paper Plus and Post Shop in the main Kati Kati shops.
Detective Senior Sergeant Turner said that the three offenders have been armed with a sawn off shotgun and stole a small amount of cash.
A fourth offender has remained in a black Nissan skyline motor vehicle that was double parked outside the shop on State Highway 2. This vehicle had no registration plates.
A member of the public has followed this vehicle north towards Waihi, and lost sight of the vehicle in the Anthree Gorge. The vehicle was driven at excessive speeds and in a dangerous manner.
The Detective Senior Sergeant stated that Police are investigating whether these offenders are linked to an earlier aggravated robbery of a Te Puke Jewellery store at about 11.30 am.
The offenders of the Te Puke jewellery store robbery were believed to be travelling in a stolen black Nissan skyline registered number ACY453.
The Police response included the use of the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter from Tauranga and the Police Eagle Helicopter from Auckland.
