Police Fire and Ambulance are in attendance at a serious vehicle crash on state highway 8 in the Lindus Pass near Tinburn Road.

The road is completely blocked and closed for through traffic.

A camper van and car has collided.

There is 1 person with critical injuries and up to 8 walking wounded.

Ambulance helicopters from Dunedin and Christchurch are onroute with medical staff.

Serious crash Lindus Pass Update.

State Highway 8 Lindus Pass will be closed all night due to a serious crash near Tinburn Road.
There are 8 injured people from the crash who are being transported to both Dunstan and Dunedin hospitals by air and road.

Sergeant Ian Kessick, Alexandra police advises that the road will be closed all night while the vehicles are cleared and the scene is examined.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage. The occupants of the campervan are Spanish and police are having to use interpreters to obtain information from them.
