Police are in attendance at a fatal motor vehicle collision on State Highway 32 Wakamaru.

The collision is occurred at approximately 1.45a.m. near the intersection of Forestry Road and State Highway 32, some tem klometres north of Whakamaru Dam.

The State Highway has now been closed by Police. All north and south bound traffic will be diverted from State Highway 32 on to Forestry Road before rejoining State Highway passed the crash site.

The road is expected to be closed for at least an hour. Bay of Plenty Road Policing Policing staff are investigating.

No further details are available at this time as next of kin are yet to be advised.
