New Zealand Bloodstock has today announced that its annual National Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale will next year move from July to join the National Weanling Sale in May.
The National Broodmare Sale was moved to July last year, taking advantage of New Zealand's newly introduced tax changes affecting the depreciation regime for broodmares. That was repeated again this year but Marketing Manager Petrea Vela confirmed that following this year's Sale results the decision has been made to put the Sales back together in 2008.
"The standalone Weanling Sale in May has shown enormous promise in just two years and we have confidence that this will take a firm foothold in the New Zealand sales market. With this year's Broodmare Sale not faring quite as well in its wet, wintry timeslot, both vendors and buyers can now benefit from having a bumper selection on offer earlier in the year."
This will result in two other changes to NZB's forthcoming sales schedule: there will be no Autumn Mixed Bloodstock Sale in April, but added to the calendar will be the Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale in August.
