At about 1.30pm on Tuesday the 15th of June 2010, Police manning a check point at Arapuni in the South Waikato stopped a Mazda Ute.
In the vehicle were three firearms and ammunition, these were visible lying loose in the cab.
The driver was spoken to briefly by Police before he sped off heading east on Arapuni Road towards Putaruru.
The driver failed to stop for Police and road spikes were deployed, these deflated two of the tyres sufficiently to allow Police to remove the vehicle from the road.
A total of five firearms were found in the vehicle, one of which was located loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, a total of 222 rounds of ammunition was found.
A 38 year old Cambridge male was arrested and charges with unlawfully possession firearms and ammunition, as well as Reckless Driving and failing to stop for Police.
He is appearing in the Tokoroa District Court next week.
