Police say Allison McPhee was the victim of a violent attack before her death.
The 42 year-old's body was discovered at the Newtown Park Flats on Wednesday 28 July 2010.
Acting Detective Inspector Scott Miller, head of the investigation, says from the conclusion of the scene examination, Police believe Ms McPhee attempted to flee her attacker.
"The front door to the flat was secured from the inside so we believe the offender may have escaped through a rear window."
Scott Miller says Police believe a weapon used in the violent attack was similar to a round rod, possibly steel, wood or aluminium.
"This could have been discarded once the offender left the Newtown Park Flats. We urge anyone with any information to phone Police on our free phone number 0800 2 PUAWAI (0800 2 782 924)."
He says Police have now spoken to most of the occupants at the Newtown Park Flats and the surrounding area but urge any associate's of Ms McPhee's not yet spoken to by Police to phone us.
