Nelson City Council advises that Todds Bush Road, Lud Valley Road, Maitai Valley Road, Kokoroa Road (past Hira), Cable Bay Road, Maori Pa Road (to Delaware Bay), the Manuka Street Ford and the footpaths of the Maitai Walkway are all now closed due to continuing heavy rain.

The Met Service advises that a further 40 – 70mm of rain is expected until 5pm today with peak intensities of 15- 20mm per hour.

It seems likely that rural areas will be affected more than the City area by this weather event.

Council staff will continue to monitor the situation, especially as high tide approaches at around 2.30pm today.
